Long Hair is the Yin to the Yang of Short Hair
Ancient Chinese dualistic belief systems such as Taoism and Confucianism teach us about an important balance of opposing forces necessary in every relationship. Why do we reject this esoteric wisdom and expect our relationships to thrive?
Confucius once said it best,
“Yin and yang, male and female, strong and weak, rigid and tender, heaven and earth, light and darkness, thunder and lightning, cold and warmth, good and evil…the interplay of opposite principles constitutes the universe.”
in other words, everything needs balance. Every action has an opposite reaction. Almost every aspect of life is paradoxical. In order to thrive we need the constant tension of an opposite force which can work both for and against us. In this same way, every long hair needs a short hair. Two short haired energies will move side by side, but never against. The meaning is both energies share the quality of being indifferent. Any tension will be taken care of aggressively. The combination of two long haired energies on the other hand is also indifferent. However they will squash their issues emotionally and they may never actually get the answer they want. Thus moving in a circular motion for much longer than should be necessary.
All relationships need the balance of a long hair and a short hair. Thus we find the balance of short haired aggression which moves forward in a line, tempered by the receptive circular energy of the long hair. This has nothing to do with gender and everything to do with the need of balance of long and short hair in every relationship. Otherwise you may find yourself uninspired, and stuck in the same cycle. Never moving forward for long enough to inspire.
